We welcome all children of every ability who would benefit from our collection to join the Berwick Toy Library. Please note that we specifically cater to the 0-6 age range and while older children are welcome, they may find our collection limited depending on their needs and capabilities. We are a not for profit organisation run by a committee of member volunteers. We do not employ any paid staff and rely on the support of all members to function effectively.

Standard Family Membership ($60):

Fortnightly borrow up to 4 items (per child)

Concession Family Membership ($40)

Fortnightly borrow up to 4 items (per child)

Please note concession memberships are provided thanks to a recent grant from the City of Casey and numbers are strictly limited. If you would like to access Concession Membership please email berwicktoylibrary@gmail.com and provide evidence of current concession entitlements (health care or pension card). Once these have run out, you are welcome to join under a Standard Family Membership.

 

Borrowing Period:

Toys are hired for one fortnight unless over a holiday period. If you are unable to return your items please email berwicktoylibrary@gmail.com to arrange an alternative as overdue fees apply after 4 weeks  on loan. Toys must be returned by the final session each year for stocktake and maintenance over the summer holidays.

 

Session Timetables:

We hold sessions every second Saturday during the school terms from 9:30 – 11:00 am.

You can check our session dates at any time on our website or Facebook page. We also email these out every term.

 

Cleaning:

All toys, puzzles and borrowed items must be thoroughly cleaned before they are returned.   If you forget then you are welcome to use the cleaning products at the Toy Library before you return them. Members are also encouraged to clean their toys prior to borrowing.

 

Duty:

All members are required to volunteer for duty at least once per term. Being ‘on duty’ involves putting toys away or helping out on the borrowing / returns table. Please arrive 15 minutes early and be prepared to stay back 15 minutes to assist your Session Leader. Anyone wishing to assist more than this is welcome.  Children are welcome to attend while you are on duty, however they are the responsibility of parents at all times.

 

Additional Charges:

Missing/damaged pieces incur a charge of $5 per piece with larger losses or damage dealt with individually.

Missing a duty without notice or rescheduling incurs a charge of $20 per duty.

Failure to return toys or large damage/loss of toys incurs a replacement fee of up to $150 per item (depending on purchase cost)
After 4 weeks on loan toys incur an overdue charge of $5 per fortnight for family memberships, irrespective of the number of toys on loan.
